Job Vacancy - Organist and Director of Music
Organisation: Stillorgan Parish (St Brigid’s Church) a parish within the Church of Ireland / Anglican tradition.
Reporting to: Rev Kevin Conroy, Rector
Location: Stillorgan, County Dublin
The Rector & Select Vestry of Stillorgan Parish wish to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated organist for our parish based in Stillorgan. The parish church is the oldest building in Stillorgan, being built in 1712 and is located in the heart of Stillorgan, within a campus which includes graveyard, parish centre, playschool and national school. The organ is a small but powerful two-manual Kenneth Jones (1985), with a light mechanical action, pedals, swell box and four-foot pistons. The parish choir has 15 members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To source appropriate liturgical music to suit the abilities and preferences of choir members, paying heed to the liturgical calendar and liaising with the Rector.
To accompany the Choir at the 11.15am Service on Sundays, and additional services as required e.g. Holy Week, Easter, Christmas etc.
To play at weddings and funerals as required.
To identify qualified substitutes for absences as necessary.
To liaise with the Church Wardens with regards maintenance of organ.
To lead rehearsals on Tuesday evening at 7:30pm.
The Candidate:
The successful person will:
Demonstrate proficiency in playing the Organ.
Understand the relationship between Liturgy and Music.
Lead, guide and inspire the Choir.
Liaise closely with the Rector and liturgical leadership.
Cultivate a positive learning environment for Choir and congregation.
Encourage musical diversity in our worship.
Remuneration will be in line with recommendations of Church Music Dublin.

This is two posts but could be also for one suitable candidate.
Job Description - Choral Director
To provide musical direction for the Choir and Parish Services in the Liturgical and Seasonal Calendar Role - September to June.
A knowledge of the relationship between Liturgy and Liturgical Music is required.
To lead, guide and direct the Parish Choir at the 10.30 a.m. Mass on Sundays, Easter, Christmas and other Special Occasions.
A good rapport with the Organist and the Choir is essential.
To coordinate rehearsals on Monday evenings from 7.00 p.m. to 8.15 p.m.
To be a team player.
Job Description - Organist
